OHS Win Central 8 Conference Title

Last Monday, May 2, the O'Neill Eagles competed in the Central 8 Conference Track Meet. The O'Neill Eagles earned over 197 points to capture the boy's title. The Eagles were able to medal athletes in all 17 events.

The Eagle throwers were able to score 24 points towards the team. Cody Knopp placed second in the discus. Kurtis Mlinar placed fourth in the discus with his personal best with 121' 8.5" and third in the shot with a throw over 41 feet. Thomas Schipporeit placed fourth in the shot put with 39" 7". Matt Maloun placed fifth with the throw of 38' 2" in the shot put.

The O'Neill jumpers were able to score a total of 21 points. Beau Schueth placed third with a jump of 19' 10". Tyler Knopp placed sixth in the triple jump with 37' 1.75" and fourth in the high jump with his best jump of the season of 5' 8". Angel Rodriguez placed second in the pole vault, 12', and Lucas George placed fifth with a vault of 10'.

The sprinters were the core of the points for Eagles with 41 points between the three events. Leading the Eagles was Connor Peterson with first in the 100 meter dash, 11.5, and third in the 200 meter dash with time of 23.9. Beau Schueth placed second in the 100 meter dash with an 11.6. Brock Schueth placed fourth in the 200 meter dash. Julian Paintsil earned a sixth place medal in the 100 meter dash with time of 12.2. Michael Hedlund placed first in the 400 meter dash and Derrick Hostert placed fifth.

The hurdlers earned 32 points for the team. Angel Rodriguez placed first in the 110 high hurdles and 300 intermediate hurdlers. Spencer Knopp placed third in the 110 high hurdles. Jonathon Hunt placed third in the 300 intermediate hurdlers.

O'Neill distance had a strong performance with 53 combined points. Daniel Waterman in the 3200 meter run, Michael Hedlund in the 800 meter run, and Derrick Hostert in the 1600 meter run. All received first place for their efforts. Daniel Waterman placed fourth in the 800 meter run. Humberto Costillo placed second in the 3200 meter run and third in the 1600 meter run. Shea Lueninghoener came in fourth in the 3200 and Joseph Gillham sixth in the 1600 meter race.

The Eagles were also able to get two first's and one second in the relays. The 4 x 100 meter run which consisted of Connor Peterson, Brock Schueth, Beau Schueth, and Tyler Knopp placed first. The 4 x 400 relay also grabbed top honors with Brock Schueth, Beau Shcueth, Derrick Hostert, and Michael Hedlund. The 4 x 800 meter run placed second. Running the 4 x 800 meter were Devon Davidson, Austin Ducker, Cole Pease, and Daniel Waterman.
