OGC Men's Golf Season Results

Nov 15, 2023 (0)

CLUB CHAMPIONS - Jake Reiman and Keegan Moore were awarded Handlebend "Club Champ" mugs for their placement in the OGC Men's Club Championship.

The golf season is officially wrapped up at the O'Neill Golf Club.  The men's league, which is held on Tuesday evenings, begins in late May and concludes with the playoffs in the fall.  This year, we had a total of 21 two-man teams and list of several substitute players.  The regular season points leaders were as follows: 1st Place – Aaron Losing & John Kersenbrock, 2nd – Place Nic Simonson and Will Wragge, 3rd Place – Josh Becker & Logan Kopf.  Following the regular season, a single-elimination tournament began.  The final match came down to regular season winners Losing & Kersenbrock and the duo of Adam Cadwell and Russ McIntosh.  In a close final match, Losing & Kersenbrock narrowly defeated Cadwell & McItonsh on the final hole.  Teams Wayne Hesse & Jon Miller and Chuck Martinson & Gene Kelly rounded out a tie for third and fourth places.

In June, the OGC Men's Club Championship was held over two consecutive Tuesday nights. The 18-hole total had two flights and was followed by a derby playoff for qualifying players.  The First Flight Champion was Jake Reiman who outlasted Matt Bauer (‘21 Champ) on the final hole and the Second Flight Champion was Keegan Moore who defeated Aaron Losing (‘22 Champ).  Both Champions received Handlebend “Club Champ” mugs.

Also completed this fall was the OGC Men's Match Play.  The match play tournament began with 30 players in pool-play with the top 16 advancing to single-elimination bracket play.  The final four included matches of Gene Kelly VS Kris Koelzer and Mike Hammerlun VS Josh Becker with Koelzer and Hammerlun advancing to the 18-hole finale.  The finale was a very close match with Mike Hammerlun prevailing on the 18th hole to win 1 UP, claiming his second match play championship in the last three years.  Thank you to all the OGC staff and our members for making this golf season a success.
