Lady Cards Still Undefeated

Last week was busy for the St. Mary's girls volleyball team. This didn't stop them from absolutely dominating the week.

The first game to kick off this long week was against the St. Francis Flyers on Tuesday, Oct. 3. The competition put forth a good effort, but they just couldn't break the Cardinals. The Cards won in two sets, 2-0.

Mya Hedstrom crushed it with 12 kills, one ace serve, one block, three digs and one set assist; Lorissa Reiman eight kills and seven digs; Gracie Williamson three kills and two digs; Pyper Ickes two kills, one ace serve, one block and eight digs; Alissa Brabec one kill, one ace serve, three digs and 23 set assists; Emma Otte seven digs; Annabelle Barlow four digs; and Joslyn Eby one dig and one set assist.

The next match put, the Cardinals against  a tough EPPJ team. The Wolfpack came out strong in the first set, but the Cardinals still came out with the upper hand. In the second, the Cardinals took an easy win, cementing their victory for this match.

Reiman lead with 12 kills, one ace serve, one block and five digs; Hedstrom seven kills, six blocks, 11 digs and two set assists; Ickes four kills, one block and two digs; Brabec one kill, one ace serve, three digs and 22 set assists; Eby one kill, four blocks and one dig; Williamson one block; Otte five digs; and Barlow four digs;

On Thursday, Oct. 12 the Cardinals were ready to get back into the action and get more wins to their names with a triangular against North Central and Niobrara/Verdigre.

The Cards started out against the North Central Knights, who were taken down in two sets. From the start, this looked like any easy wash for the Cardinals. Set two showed the Knight's potential, but it was too late in the game, and the Cards still won, 2-0.

Hedstrom had seven kills, three ace serves, one block, seven digs and two set assists; Eby four kills, one ace serve, three digs and two set assists; Reiman four kills, two blocks, five digs and one set assist; Williamson three kills; Brabec two kills, one ace serve, two digs and 15 set assists; Ickes one kill, two ace serves, one block and 10 digs; Barlow four ace serves and one dig; and Otte four digs.

The Cards absolutely downed the Cougars. The Cards held their opponent to 1/5 the amount of their own points.

Hedstrom had nine kills, five ace serves and eight digs; Ickes six kills and six digs; Williamson five kills and one dig; Brabec three kills, three digs and 18 set assists; Reiman two kills, one block and three digs; Barlow one ace serve, five digs and one set assist; Eby one ace serve and two digs; Otte five digs; Hannah Gleason two digs; Williamson one dig; and Adyson Peterson three set assists.

On Saturday, Oct. 7 the Cardinals traveled West to Anselmo-Merna and defeated Pleasanton 25-20, 25-20, and Sandhills Valley 25-7 and 25-11. On Monday, Oct. 9 the Cards traveled to Riverside 25-17 and 25-16.

The Cards are still undefeated and   sport a 24-0 record as of the first of the week.
