The time for Basketball season is here and the St. Mary's Cardinals wasted no time, squaring off against two schools already. The Girls traveled to Crofton and Nebraska Christian to get the games started. Last Thursday's game against Crofton was a struggle for the Cardinals, falling behind early on. By half-time, the host was holding down the Cards to just 13 points. The Warriors kept going, while the Cards continued to trail behind. When the final buzzer echoed through the room, the Warriors had earned their first victory of the season. Gracie Williamson led with 10 points, two rebounds and two steals; Cherish Williamson had eight points, five rebounds and one steal; Adyson Peterson had six points, three rebounds and two steals; Emerson Mlnarik had four points and five rebounds; Tatum Ickes had four points, two rebounds and one steal; and Bethany Leisy had one rebound. Things were looking up for the team when they took charge in the opening against the Eagles. The walls crumbled soon after, when they dropped quarter two 11-4. The Cards brought the spotlight back to them, but quickly let it slip again. The Cardinals and the Eagles both claimed two quarters, but the Eagles made the most of it and managed to overtake their visitors. Peterson took charge with 14 points, five rebounds and one steal; G. Willimson had eight points, three rebounds and five steals; C. Williamson had seven points, four rebounds and one steal; Mlnarik had six points and two rebounds; and Ickes had two points, three rebounds and one steal. SMH 13 4 14 6 37 NCHS 12 11 13 11 47
