Date: April 11, 2024 The Holt County Weed Board met in regular session. This meeting was publicized pursuant to Section 84-1411 R.R.S, 1943 Notice of meeting given in advance thereof by publication in paper as shown by Affidavit of Publication on March 28th, 2024, in the Holt County Independent. John Hammerlun convened the meeting at 7:00 P.M. and informed the public of the location of the Open Meeting Poster. Present: Dan Drueke, Tom Welsh, Dan Pribil, Kevin DeKay, John Hammerlun, Supervisor Dustin Breiner and Weed Superintendent William Babutzke. Special Guest: Nick Wordekemper (Nebraska Department of Agriculture) Minutes Approved: Tom Welsh made a motion to approve the minutes and Dan Pribil seconded. All approved. Claims Approved: Kevin DeKay made a motion to approve the claims and Dan Drueke seconded. All approved. Old Business: Tin for the shop, Measurements will possibly be taken next week. New Business: Nick Wordekemper for the Nebraska Department of Agriculture was here to introduce himself to the board and to give the board the Annual Report on William Babutzke Holt County Weed Superintendent. The Report is for the year 2023. The report is broken down into four sections: inspections, office evaluation, county reports and continuing education. The report is worth 3400 points. Total score for the year was 3336. Nick discussed new changes in noxious weed open files. If progress is shown that the landowner has 80% of the noxious weed under control the file can be closed. If no progress is shown the file remains open with follow-up documentation and notices. Shredding is completed. Byron Wilson will be returning this summer to help spray. Information on the following list of twelve noxious weeds found in Nebraska can be located at the neweed.org website with sufficient information on each noxious weed. Canada Thistle, Musk Thistle, Plumeless Thistle, Purple Loosestrife, Spotted Knapweed, Diffuse Knapweed, Saltcedar, Phragmites, Giant Knotweed, Japanese Knotweed, Sericea Lespedeza, Leafy Spurge. Next meeting May 9, 2024, at 7:00 pm at the Holt County Weed Office Dan Pribil made a motion to adjourn the meeting, Dan Drueke seconded. All approved. Meeting adjourned at 7:40 pm.
