The O'Neill Eagles' regular season will wind down this week when the Eagles travel to Columbus to face a tough and highly rated Columbus Lakeview team. The Eagles faced a little tougher team this week. The Eagles downed Columbus Scotus 37-7 this past week in O'Neill for their final regular-season game. The Eagle defense held the Shamrocks to 39 yards rushing and 77 yards from the air game. The Eagles and the Shamrocks faced a tough first quarter with neither team getting a score. The Eagles scored in the first and, with a field goal, went up 10 to nothing at the half. The Eagles managed 14 points in the third and 13 in the fourth for the win. Braxen Eichelberger led his team with 10 carries for 152 yards and one touchdown; Grady Welke had nine carries for 50 yards; Turner Heiss had five carries for yards and two touchdowns; Porter Mathews had three carries for 94 yards; Colten Shoemaker had three carries for 16 yards; and Ryker Sudbeck had three carries for 10 yards. Ian Yates led the receivers with three catches for 70 yards; Eichelberger had three catches for 45 yards; Nate Brown had two catches for 12 yards; and Sudbeck had one catch for 25 yards. Welke totaled 12 tackles on the night; Mathews had 10 tackles; Noah Manchester, Cort Cohon, Yates, and C. Shoemaker all with five tackles; Jordan Chairez and Heiss had four tackles; Drake Brandt and Brody Jakubowski both had three tackles; Ryder Kelly had two tackles; Tucker Anderson, Daine Brandt, Evan Shoemaker, Eichelberger and Brown all with one tackle. The Eagles will enter post-season play next as a top 10 contender.
