Eagles Defeat the Indians at Winnebago

The O'Neill Eagle boys traveled to Winnebago last Tuesday, Jan. 3 to face the Indians and came away with a decent 19 point win.

The Eagles jumped out to a 12 point lead in the first quarter while the Indians got things moving in the second quarter scoring 10 to the Eagles 11. At the half the Eagles led 29-16.

The Indians fought hard to chip away at the Eagles lead but the first quarter lead set the course for the Indians loss.

Landon Classen had a whopping 27 points, shooting four of five three pointers for 80 percent, five of eight shots from in the two point range for 63 percent and five of six from the charity stripe for 83 percent. Classen had six rebounds and two steals; Drew Morrow 20 points, shooting 67 percent in two pointers and six of eight in free throws for 75 percent. Morrow had six rebounds and four steals. Keaton Wattier nine points, 10 rebounds and one steal; Brady Sidak eight points and 10 rebounds; Sean Coventry four points, two rebounds and two steals; and Colton Osborne one point.

On Friday the Eagles played host to the 7-6 Boone Central Cardinals. The Eagles fell by 11 to the Cards.

The Eagles stayed with the Cardinals in the first half trailing 31 to 24. After a rough third quarter, the Eagles made a run in the fourth putting up 24 points to the Cards 22 but ultimately fell short.

Classen led the scoring for the Eagles with 15 points, five rebounds and three steals; Morrow 12 points, three rebounds and six steals; Sidak 11 points and four rebounds; Wattier 10 points, nine rebounds and one steal; Coventry two points, three rebounds and two steals; and Brady Eichelberger two points, one rebound and two steals.
