Eagles Cross Country Open Season In Winner And Albion

Max Berg - placed third in the boys varsity division at the Winner Cross Country Invite.

The O'Neill Eagles competed in two meets the last two weeks. The Eagles went to the Winner Invitational August 25th. They took 23 athletes to compete. Eight other schools competed at the meet. No team score was kept. Top 10 individuals could medal in the varsity division, and five in the junior varsity/junior high division. Varsity ran a 5k and the junior varsity/junior high ran a 4k.

Leading the Eagles in the girls' varsity division was sophomore Taya Dickau placing 6th and Ashley Dickau 10th. Mollie Corkle placed 19th overall. 

In the boys' varsity division, freshman Max Berg placed 3rd, junior Trevor Alder 5th, and seniors Mikah Raymond 7th and Gus Laible 11th. 

In the boys junior varsity/ junior high division 7th grader Tyson Becker won the race. Tomas Arciniego medaled placing 3rd.

The rest of the junior vasity placed as followed: Xzavier Parks 12th, Logan Bradshaw 14th, Caleb Laursen 13th, Ashten Burival 14th, Ethan Sukup 15th, Gavin Kruse 21st, Joel Jimenez 26th, Kaleb Asche 30th and Tucker Cook 32nd.

The team reloaded and went to the Boone Central Invitational, Sept. 1st. Fourteen schools competed at the meet. The top 20 medaled in the high divisions and 10 in the junior high division. The high school girls team placed 7th and high school boys placed 9th. 

In the high school race Taya Dickau placed 7th overall, with her sister Ashley Dickau placing 17th. The rest of the team was Mollie Corkle 56th, Haley Romesser 67th, Lauryn Dusatko 80th, and Bethany Owens 83rd. 

In the boys' race freshman Max Berg lead the team with a 22nd place finish. Rest of the team was: Trevor Alder 26th , Mikah Raymond 33rd, Elijah Kopecky 39th, Brandon Romero 48th, Tomas Arciniego 61st, Brayden Romesser 63rd, Brock Latzel 64th, Paul Fonseca 77th, Gus Laible 78th, Xzavier Parks 91st, Caleb Laursen 93rd, Logan Bradshaw 95th, Ethan Skup 104th, Ashten Burival 109th, Gavin Kruse 113th, Kaleb Asche 122nd, Tucker Cook 123rd, and Luke Wilson 124th. 

“Our team place is not where it needs to be but we ran faster than last year. We just need to get every week, and we will be where we need to be, at the end of the year,” said Coach Hilker. 

In the junior high division the Eagles had three medalists. Kiarra Kennedy placed 5th in the girls' division. In the boys' division Angel Sanchez placed 4th and Alonso Hernandez medaled placing 6th. Rest of the girls team placed as followed: Emma French 43rd, Emma Bowder 49th, Jailynn Romesser 55th, Carly Zlomke 60th, and McKenna Sickels 62nd.  In the junior high boy's division Evan Cole 15th, Jordan Perez 22nd, Tyson Becker 23rd, Alex Otte 27th, Barrett Troester 35th, Dane Asche 50th, and Alex Nelson 59th. 

This week the O'Neill Eagles will take the entire team to the Norfolk Catholic Invitational Meet which will be held at Sky View Park. First race will begin at 9 a.m.
