Eagles At Boone Central Invite

Last week, Sept. 2 the O'Neill Eagles competed at the Boone Central Invite.  Twelve teams competed in the meet.  Ninety-seven competitors were in the girls division and 130 runners in the boys division.

The girl's team was able to place sixth out of 12 teams.  Medalling for the Lady Eagles were Tasha Lechtenberg 17th, Alejandra Vergara 19th, and Brandi Walters 20th.  Rounding out the varsity team was Lizzie Price 26th, Makayla Wiese 39th Catrina Spangler 48th.  The team scored 81 points.  The following Lady Eagles placed as followed:, Sarah Pribil 68th, Miranda Pribil 81st, and Nicole Babutzke 84th.  

The boys team placed seventh out of 12 teams.  The lone medalist was Kyle Pardun placing 13th.  The other top five runners for the team were:  Blake Walters 34th, Shae Lueninghoener 35th, Humberto Costilla 38th, Nate Gotschall 43rd, and Joseph Gillham 43rd.  The Eagles scored 113 points.  The other O'Neill runners were:  Devon Davidson 66th, Kyle Fowler 69th, Cody Belzer 79th, Jessie Albarran 97th, Dylan Belik 106th, Logan Spencer 107th, Andrew Carlson 121st, and Miguel Ochoa 123rd.

In the junior high division Riley Sibbel placed runner 'up as an individual, with Ashley Everitt placing 5th, Abby Gillham 15th, Jayde Rosenkranz 20th, Kaylee Harvey 28th, and Veronica Ross 29th, Kyra Brown 34th, Makayle Pardun 41st.  The junior high girls team placed 2nd.  The boy's team placed seventh  The following runners were:  Jordan Ross 23rd, Cody Watson 24th, Deven Jurgensmeier 32nd, Casey Vandersnick 37th, and James Walton 52nd.

'The team ran really well.  As for the girls, we wanted to have four medalist and three achieved it.  For the first meet the girls ran really well.  As for boys, the team also ran well.  Most of them this was their first meet.  We had no senior boys running this meet.  Both teams don't realize how good they could be,' said Hilker.

Next week, Friday, Sept. 9 the O'Neill Cross Country team will run at the Norfolk Catholic Invite.  There will be  six races.  The races will go as follows:  jv girls 3:00 pm, jv boys 3:30, varsity girls 4:00 pm, varsity boys 4:30 pm, and junior high girls 5:00 pm, and junior high boys 5:20 pm.  The race is held at Sky View Park.
