Eagle Golfers Finish Regular Season

O'Neill Varsity Senior’s – Holly Hesse, Nicole Lind and Morgan Langan.

The O'Neill Girls Golf Team finished the regular season with a third place finish at the Mid-State Conference at Battle Creek and a sixth place finish at the B-2 Districts in Blair. The conference champion was Norfolk Catholic and Boone Central was runner-up. Winning the individual gold medal was Amy Ahlers from Boone Central who shot an impressive 76. Placing in the top ten for O'Neill was Nicole Lind. She won in a playoff over Ashlen Pospisil of Norfolk Catholic for eighth place.  The playoff lasted four holes with Nicole finally winning with a bogey on hole nine. Nicole shot her career best of 96 for the day and played extremely well. Holly Hesse continued her steady play.  Other scores for O'Neill were Holly Hesse 103, Paige Gaughenbaugh 103, Davita Dick 106, Morgan Langan 107, Hailee Harmon 108 and Amy Schmitz 110.  At districts the girls faced a very challenging course in Blair.  The girls struggled with the windy conditions and all the hazards that ran through the course. They still put in a great effort and kept their scores in the 50's. Leading the team was Nicole Lind who shot a 108, just five strokes from qualifying for state. Holly Hesse shot 111, Hailee Harmon 112, Amy Schmitz 113 and Paige Gaughenbaugh 115. Teams qualifying for state were, district champions Omaha Duchesne, runner-up Blair, and third place finisher was Omaha Skutt. 

The senior members on the O'Neill varsity team were Holly Hesse, Nicole Lind, and Morgan Langan.  They have been a part of the golf team for four years and their leadership and contributions to the golf program have been greatly appreciated.
