Cardinal Wrestlers Compete At Winside

The St. Mary's boys wrestling recently competed in Winside this past weekend. The Cards finished with two first place winners.

In the 132. lb weight class Keigan Couch won over three matches before winning over Thomas Toline of GACC  in by decision 11-5. for first place in the 132 lb. class 

In the 157 lb. class Zane Cole wrestled four matches winning the first match by fall, losing the second by fall, winning the third and losing the fourth in dec by Castillo of Millard North.

In the 157 lb. class Kolton Lavicky  took fourth place winning over Jace McGill of Weeping Water by fall, Austin Pelster defeated Lavicky by Technical Fall in the second match, Lavicky beat Landon Carlson of Winside by fall in the next match and Jacob Lincoln of Winnebago by fall in the next match 

In the 165 lb. match Cooper Cole took third place. Cole drew a bye and then took a loss by Stratton Selling of Winside. Coles next match he won by Major Decision 14-1 over Josh Miller of Randolph and in the third place match Cole won over Alex Allison of Laurel Concorde- Coleridge.

In the 175 Lb. division Logan Pongratz wrestled three times losing twice and winning his second match over Jyson Wayman of Laurel Concorde Coleridge.

In the 190 lb. class Carter Cole wrestled three times losing twice and winning once over Jacob Rosencrantz of Cedar Bluffs by fall.

In the 215 lb. class Dalton Herley took first place  defeating three of his opponents  by fall and defeating Jacob Swick of Ponca by fall for the first place medal.

In 215 lb. class Robert Shoemaker received a bye for his first round and then lost the next two matches,

The St. Mary's Girls had three compete with Laney Drueke 4-0 took first placed; Johnson, Jaiya 7-3 took third place; and Jaelyn Shaver, 8-3 took fourth place.

In the first place match at 125 lb. Laney Drueke (St Mary's) 7-0, Fr. over Sophia Wortman (Plainview) 15-4, Fr. (Dec 10-7).
