Walters Sr.

Buckeye, AZ —Allen Henry Walters Sr., 93, of Buckeye, AZ, formerly of O'Neill, died peacefully on Tuesday, June 16, 2026 in Fredericksburg, Texas.

Honoring Allen's wishes, no funeral service will be held.

A private graveside service for the family will take place at a later date at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona in Phoenix, AZ.

Memorials may be made to the family for future designation.

Allen was born May 6, 1933, in Holt County, he was the son of Henry and Mildred (Rouse) Walters.

Allen grew up on the family farm and carried a deep love for the land throughout his life. At the age of 19 he proudly served four years in the United States Air Force. Upon returning home, he resumed farming in Holt County, beginning a lifetime defined by hard work, service and an uncommon versatility.

In 1968, Allen was elected Holt County Assessor and served in that role until November 1969.  

Over the years, in addition to being a dairy farmer in Holt County, Allen sold real estate, engineered trains for Union Pacific Railroad and later served as a deputy sheriff in Maricopa County, AZ. 

While living in O'Neill, Allen was a member of the O'Neill Assembly of God Church, where he faithfully served the Lord. His faith guided his decisions, shaped his character and remained a steady foundation through every season of his journey.

Those who knew Allen will remember not only his work ethic and devotion to family, but also his wonderful sense of humor.  He loved to make others laugh and had a gift for lifting the spirits of those around him.  Even in his final days, the hospice staff remarked on how kind he was and what a pleasure it was to care for him – an enduring testament to the warmth and gentleness he carried throughout his life.

Allen is survived by his three children Allen (Karen) Walters Jr. of Buckeye, AZ, Doug (Laura) Walters of Fredericksburg, Texas and Lori (Tim) Rushing of Running Springs, CA; three sisters LaVone Johring of O'Neill, Arlene Libby of North Platte and Norma Davis of Surprise, AZ; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild, each of whom brought him immense joy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Connie, his brother William Walters, his sister Florence Anderson, his grandson Brian Walters and his granddaughter Megan Rushing.
