A HORDE OF EAGLES take down a Schyuler player in last Friday's game in O'Neill.

The O'Neill Eagles are one more win closer to postseason play. The Eagles, as of this week, are tied with Central City and Columbus Lakeview in points, while Wahoo and Fort Calhoun hold the first and second spots, respectively.

The Eagles will face Columbus Scotus this Friday at home at 7 p.m. Scotus is sitting at 2-5 on the season, having faced some tough competition thus far.

The Eagles hosted Schyuler, who is now 0-7 after the 70-0 win the Eagles inflicted on them on Friday, Oct. 10.

The Eagles had little trouble with the Warriors. Braxen Eichelberger ran in the first touchdown on a 24-yard run with 10:07 in the first quarter. In the next set of plays, Eagle Porter Mathews ran in a 25-yard touchdown with 9:20 on the clock. The warriors had trouble on both sides of the ball, and their special teams were not an exception. After the next series, the Warriors punted to the Eagles, and Eichelberger ran it in for a 60-yard touchdown, putting the Eagles up 21-0. Turner Heiss threw a touchdown pass to Ian Yates to make the score 27-0. The Eagles' next score came after a short drive down the field, where Grady Welke drove in the next score before the clock ran out in the first quarter, making it 35-0.

The second quarter went as fast as the first, with the Eagles racking up score after score. The Eagles rarely left the scoring end of the field, and the next score was no exception when Welke ran in a 52-yard touchdown. The next score was defense-related as Yates grabbed a fumble on the Warriors' 10. Ryker Sudbeck got some time at the wheel when he hit Isaiah Wiekamp, taking the Eagles to 49-0 as coach Eichelberger was diligently subbing in his younger players. Eichelberger got his final score of the night in the second on a 23-yard touchdown. Kaiden Martinez ran in a 28-yard touchdown with 24 seconds left in the half to put the Eagles up 63-0 at the half.

The second half was all about letting the younger players have at it.

Kameron Laursen got the final score of the night for the Eagles on a four-yard touchdown with 10:50 left on the clock. The younger Eagles held the line defensively, keeping the Warriors out of the endzone.

Welke led the Eagles with four carries for 64 yards and two touchdowns; Martinez had three carries for 72 yards and one touchdown; Laursen had two carries for 47 yards and one touchdown; Eichelberger one carry for 25 yards and one touchdown; Mathews had two carries for 23 yards and one touchdown; Colten Shoemaker four carries for 13 yards; Holden Fick one carry for 12 yards; Kage Pecena had two carries for 11 yards; Sudbeck had three carries for six and one touchdown; Ryder Kelly one carry for five yards; Bo Cahoy two carries for five yards; and Greyson Frank one carry for two yards.

Yates had two receptions for 47 yards and one touchdown; Eichelberger had one catch for 25 yards and one touchdown; and Nate Brown had one catch for 13 yards.

Colten Shoemaker led the Eagles with 11 tackles on the night, Tavin Morrow had 10 tackles, Evan Shoemaker had four tackles, Heiss, Drake Brandt, Welke and Cort Chohon each had three tackles; Eichelberger, Peyton Benner, Angel Sanchez, Matinez, Beau Sobotka, Jordan Chairez and Brody Jakubowski each had two tackles on the night; Fick, Kelly, Tucker Anderson, Laursen, Wiekamp, Charlie Morrow and Jet Welsch each had one tackle.
