The O'Neill Cross Country teams turned in strong performances at the Mid-States Conference Meet, with several athletes earning medals against tough competition. In the boys' division, O'Neill had three medalists. Max Berg led the Eagles with a fifth-place finish, followed by Alonso Hernandez in 14th and Paul Fonseca in 15th. Rounding out the varsity squad were Tomas Arciniega placing 24th, Evan Cole 27th, and Brandon Romero 30th, helping the team to a solid 3rd place overall showing in the conference standings. On the girls' side, Kiarra Kennedy continued her impressive season, earning a sixth-place medal finish to lead the Lady Eagles. Teammate Taya Dickau ran well for 17th, followed by Mollie Corkle in 25th, Emma Bowder 29th, and Jailyn Romesser 41st, as the O'Neill girls put together a strong 5th placed finish, team effort. The Eagles will look to carry this momentum into districts as they continue to build toward postseason competition. The Eagles will compete in the C-3 districts hosted by Pierce, to try to earn the right to go the NSAA Cross Country Championships, October 24th. First race will be 4:00 p.m. at the Pierce Country Club.
