Spencer — Lois Marie Scheinost, 81, of Spencer, died peacefully in her home on Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2023.

Lois requested that she be cremated and a private family service be held in the summer.

Memorials may be made to the family for future designation.

Biglin's Mortuary in Spencer is in charge of the arrangements.

Lois was born on Jan. 2nd, 1942 in O'Neill to William and Bernadine (Hauser) Strong. Lois spent her years growing up in O'Neill and summers spent in Derby, KS with a very special aunt and uncle.

After graduating from Derby High School Lois later moved back to Nebraska where she then met the love of her life Garry Scheinost of Spencer in 1960 marrying a year later on Jan. 15th, 1961. Garry and Lois made their home in Spencer, where they raised three children.

Lois was an active member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church, where she volunteered her time to help wherever needed.

Lois and Garry owned and operated Scheinost Trucking for 40+ years until their retirement.

In Lois' spare time, she enjoyed bowling, darts, golf, dancing, cooking up wonderful meals for family and friends and traveling with Garry.

Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her greatest joy and she made it a point and priority to travel and attend every event, whether it was a play, a concert, softball, baseball, basketball, track and/or volleyball games that they were active and participating in. It was a rare occasion for Lois to miss anything her family was involved in.

She was known to her grands and great-grands as “Grandma Lois,” “G-MAMA LoLo,” and most recently, “G.G.” All names she would answer to with pride.

Her passing will leave a great void in the lives of those who knew and loved her.

Lois is survived by her three children Tonya Petersen of Baltic, SD, Jay (Shelley) Scheinost of Tarpon Springs, FL and Kaci (Kelly) Classen of Spencer; one brother Carlyle "Bubs" of O'Neill; one sister Vickie (John) Zeigler of Pickstown, SD; eight grandchildren Makaila Carlson, Bryce Petersen, Allison Scheinost, Alex Scheinost, Emily (Luke) Greene, Lance (Terra) Classen, Kelli (John) Waitkus and Amber (Mavrick) Hill; 16 great-grandchildren; her “Partner in Crime” Nancy Bowers; her beloved furry friend Daisy Marie; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents William and Bernadine, one brother Larry, one sister Laveena (Robert Wheeler), one sister-in-law Connie (Carlyle) Strong and her husband Garry.
