The St. Mary's Cardinals clobbered the Elgin/Pope John Wolfpack on Saturday is a understatement. The Cardinal defense played great holding the Wolfpack to five first downs and a 172 yards on the night.

The Cardinals marched on the Elgin defense going for 333 yards and six rushing touchdowns and one touchdown catch.

The Cardinals ran 38 plays for 16 first downs and had nine penalties for 72 yards. The Wolfpack ran 42 plays for five first downs and had 10 penalties for 57 yards.

Aidan Hedstrom led the Cardinals with six throws for three completions with one touchdown.

Hedstrom carried the ball seven times for two touchdowns with two touchdowns running for 115 yards; Grand Winkelbauer had 12 carries for 104 yards and two touchdowns; Tate Thompson three carries for 34 yards and one touchdown; Dalton Adler seven carries for 33 yards and one touchdown and Gabe Pribil one run for no gain.

Connor Semin three catches for 38 yards and one touchdown.

Gabe Pribil had two kick returns for 26 yards and a punt return for 42 yards and a eight yard fumble return for a touchdown in the third quarter.

The Wolfpacks two scores came on catches from Paiton Hoefer to Blake Henn and Colton Wright.

Adam Everitt led the Cardinal defense with 10 tackles followed by Semin with eight; Winkelbauer and Thompson with five Issac Everitt and Isaiah Wiese four tackles; Hedstrom and Wyatt Scofield three tackles and Lawrence Werth, Charles Barlow, Kyle Pribil one tackle each.

The Cards will play Summerland at Ewing this week.
