The Chambers/Wheeler Central Renegades met up with the Summerland Bobcats on Thursday, Feb. 6 in the semi-finals of the Niobrara Valley Conference Tournament.
The Renegades took control in the first quarter when they marked up 12 points and held the Bobcats to a mere three points. The second quarter was a little closer when the Renegades only put two more points on the board than the Bobcats. At the half, the Renegades led 18-7.
The second half started much the same with the Renegades adding 11 points to their score and the Bobcats only adding eight more points. The Bobcats did outscore the Renegades by three points in the fourth quarter, but the damage was already done. At the buzzer, the Renegades claimed the 42-31 victory.
Leading scorers for the Renegades were Taylor Peter with 22 points, including one three-point shot, shooting 87 percent from the free throw line, with 16 rebounds and three steals; Morgan Ramsey 18 points, making two three-point shots, shooting 67 percent at the free throw line, with 10 rebounds and one steal; and Michell Koenig two points and three rebounds.

On Saturday, Feb. 8 the undefeated Lady Renegades met their match against North Central for the NVC Tournament final.
The Lady Renegades started the game strong outscoring the Knights 17-6 in the first quarter with North Central cutting that lead 26-16 at the half. The Knights came out in the second half chipping away at the Renegades and getting some of them into four trouble with Rachel Dierks fouling out late in the fourth. The Knights shook up the Renegades and made it tough for them to move the ball and get to the bucket. In the end the girls lost by five.
Peter led the Renegades with 24 points, 14 rebounds and two steals; Ramsey seven points, five rebounds and one steal; and Koenig with three points and one rebound.
