The O'Neill Lady Eagles opened up their conference play with a loss to Norfolk Catholic which is the second loss in less than a week. The Eagles were defeated at home last week on Tuesday, Jan. 28 with a 67-63 loss at home and then in the opening round of the Mid-State conference the Eagles fell again on Monday, Feb.3 in Norfolk losing 57-45.
In the first match the Eagles held tough playing with the Knights in the first half. In the third quarter the Eagles came close shoring up the score and a fourth quarter shot sent the game into overtime. The Eagles played tough in overtime but couldn't pull off the win.
Alyssa Eichelberger led the Eagles with 14 points, one rebound and two steals; Meg Schluns 12 points, 16 rebounds and two steals; Blair Gutshall 11 points amd Zelie Sorensen 11 points; Makayla Hilker five points, two rebounds and one steal; Kiersten Welke three points and two rebounds; and Wreece Liewer two points.

On Thursday, Jan. 30 the Eagles faced off against West Holt winning 57-28.
The Huskies kept pace with the Eagles in the first quarter trailing by one at the end of the stanza. The Eagles took charge of the match holding the Huskies to one point in the second to lead the game at half 29-12.
The Eagles dominated the third quarter out scoring the Huskies by 15. The Huskies put nine on the board in the fourth against the Eagles secondary who put up six.
Lauren Young led the Lady Eagles with 17 points, four rebounds and four steals; Schluns 15 points, two rebounds and nine steals; Eichelberger nine points, one rebound and four steals; Gutshall six points, seven rebounds and two steals; Chole Scott three points; Zelie Sorensen three points, five rebounds and three points; and Hilker two points and three rebounds.

On Monday, Feb. 3 the Eagles faced the Norfolk Catholic Knights again this time in conference play.
Both squads came out scraping with only a point difference at the half. The Knights led 23-22.
The Knights came out in the second half determined out scoring the Eagles by only 11 over the two periods.
Eichelberger and Young led the Eagles scoring 12 points each; Eichelberger had three rebounds and two steals and Young five rebounds and two steals; Schluns seven points and nine rebounds; Gutshall seven points,10 rebounds and two steals; Sorensen four points, two rebounds and one steal; Hilker three points,two rebounds and two steals.
