The Lady Eagles hosted the Plainview Pirates on Tuesday, Feb. 9.

The two teams stayed close in the first half. In the first quarter the Eagles put up one more point than the Pirates, but in the second quarter the Pirates had one more point to add than the Eagles. That meant at the half, both teams headed to the locker room tied at 16 points each.

The third quarter was when the Eagles made their move, adding 22 points to their side of the board and holding the Pirates to just half of that with 11 points. The fourth quarter was close again with the Eagles getting an additional 18 points to add to their tally and the Pirates tacking on 15 more points. At the end of the game, the Eagles led 56-42.

Leading scorers for the Eagles were Junior Lauren Young with 18 points, including one shot from the three-point range, shooting 75 percent from the floor and 100 percent from the white stripe, getting four rebounds and three steals; Senior Meg Schluns with 14 points, shooting 63 percent from the floor, with three rebounds and five steals; Senior Alyssa Eichelberger 10 points, with one shot from the three-point range, shooting 75 percent from the floor, two rebounds and six steals; Senior Blair Gutshall six points and six rebounds; Junior Zelie Sorensen four points, five rebounds and one steal; and Senior Kiersten Welke four points, two rebounds and one steal.

The Lady Eagles should have traveled to Ord on Friday, Feb. 12, but the game was cancelled due to the frigid temperatures.

The Lady Eagles started Sub-District play on Tuesday, Feb. 16 when they traveled to Broken Bow to face the Ord Chants.
