The O’Neill Lady Eagles built a five-run lead in the fourth inning and then held off Boone Central/Newman Grove’s charge for a 6-5 victory on Tuesday. Boone Central/Newman Grove scored three runs in the failed comeback on a error and a double by Madisyn Cunningham.
Boone Central/Newman Grove scored three runs in the seventh inning, but O’Neill still managed to pull out the victory. The big inning for Boone Central/Newman Grove came thanks to an error on a ball put in play by Avery Olnes and a double by Cunningham.
The Eagles opened up scoring in the first inning. Ryanne Pistulka drove in one when she singled.
The Eagles notched three runs in the fourth inning. O'Neill's big bats in the inning were led by singles by Catilyn Reiser and Harley Cahoy.
Pistulka led the O’Neill Eagles Varsity to victory in the circle. She surrendered five runs on four hits over seven innings, striking out five.
Olnes took the loss for Boone Central/Newman Grove. She lasted three and a third innings, allowing eight hits and six runs while striking out four and walking one.
The Eagles tallied ten hits on the day. Cahoy, Alyssa Fehringer, Reiser, and Emma Wrede each managed multiple hits for O’Neill Eagles Varsity. Wrede, Reiser, Fehringer, and Cahoy each collected two hits to lead O’Neill Eagles Varsity.
O’Neill Eagles Varsity Grabs Lead In Seventh Inning To Defeat CCV
The Eagles snatched the lead late in the game in an 18-17 victory over CCV on Thursday. The game was tied at 16 with O’Neill Eagles Varsity batting in the top of the seventh when Emma Smith singled on a 3-2 count, scoring two runs.
An 11-run lead in the third inning was just enough for the Eagles Varsity to hold off CCV for the victory. CCV scored 14 runs in the failed comeback on a single by Paige Crawford in the third, a double by Sydney Perez in the third, a walk by Morgan Semm in the third, a single by Claire Adams in the third, a double by Jadyn Lauritsen in the fifth, a single by Ava Baustert in the fifth, a single by Lauritsen in the sixth, a error in the sixth, and a error in the seventh.
O’Neill took an early lead in the second inning when Alyssa Fehringer singled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run.
In the bottom of the sixth inning, CCV tied things up at 16. An error scored one run for CCV.

Smith led the Eagles to victory in the pitcher’s circle. She lasted three innings, allowing six hits and ten runs while striking out three. Ryanne Pistulka threw four innings in relief out of the bullpen.
Semm took the loss for CCV. She surrendered 11 runs on ten hits over five and two-thirds innings, striking out seven.
Lauritsen started the game for CCV. She lasted one and one-third innings, allowing five hits and seven runs
O’Neill racked up 15 hits in the game. Fehringer, Doty, Smith, Montes, and Zelie Sorensen each managed multiple hits for O’Neill Eagles Varsity. Fehringer went 4-for-5 at the plate to lead the Eagles in hits.
CCV totaled ten hits. Perez, Lauritsen, and Katelyn Fanta all collected multiple hits for CCV.
