The O’Neill Eagles hosted a Holiday Tournament which began on Monday, Dec. 28. In the first round, they battled against the North Central Knights from Bassett.

In the first quarter, the Eagles took the lead putting 20 points on the board while the Knights marked up 13. The second quarter increased the lead for the Eagles when they added 21 more points to their side of the board and held the Knights to a mere six point addition. At the half, the Eagles held the lead 41-19.

The Knights kept it a little closer in the third quarter when they managed to add 16 points to their total while the Eagles added 15 to their side of the board. But the Eagles finished it off in the fourth quarter when they put up another 16 points and the Knights only managed to put up three additional points. At the buzzer, the Eagles had an impressive 72-38 victory.

Leading scorers for the Eagles were Senior Parker Heiss putting up 21 points for the Eagles, including four from the three-point range, making 100 percent of his two-point shots and 50 percent from the free throw line, getting two rebounds and one steal; Sophomore Landon Classen adding 18 to the total, making four of his seven three-point shots and half of the two point shots, getting four rebounds and three steals; Sr. Peyton Mathews with 10 points, making 100 percent from the floor and the free throw line, getting four rebounds and two steals; Junior Keaton Wattier five points, three rebounds and one steal; Junior Sean Coventry five points, one rebound and one steal; Freshman Drew Morrow four points, three rebounds and one steal; Senior Keegan Moore four points and one rebound; Sophomore Kyler Dean two points, three rebounds and one steal; Senior Matthew Pardun two points; and Sophomore Tyler Diediker one point and one rebound.
