The O'Neill Eagles football team can't catch a break this season with all the tough competition they face in their conference. A 63-0 loss on Friday against Battle Creek was no exception.

The Eagle's only win this season so far came against the Valentine Badgers back on September 3rd. The Eagle's next opponents will be fierce when they take on the Wayne Blue Devils this week at Wayne and Boone Central on Oct. 22 for the final home game.

The Eagles had trouble on both sides of the ball on Friday and couldn't get anywhere near the end zone to put points on the board. The Eagle's defense also suffered being outmatched by the Battle Creek offense which seemed to score on every possession. The Braves had 373 yards of total offense while the Eagles had 115.

The Eagles ran 48 plays for six first downs and had two penalties for 15 yards. The Braves ran 51 plays for six first downs and had three penalties for 25 yards.

Pryor Mathews led the Eagles with two carries for 30 yards, Landon Classen 10 carries for 19 yards, Fabian Acevedo seven carries for eight yards, Karter Reed four carries for four yards and Dylan Parks one carry for one yard.

Drew Morrow led the Eagles in receiving two receptions for 45 yards, Mathews one catch for eight yards and Acevedo two receptions for five yards.

Leading the defense for O'Neill was Mathews with seven tackles, Acevedo and Levi Drueke four tackles each, Morrow, Salvador Rodriguez, Parks and Sean Coventry three tackles each, Michael Mcallister, Tucker Shabram, Joey Engelbart and Walker Peter two tackles each, and Karter Reed, Landon Schmeichel, Reese Grosch, Holden Jenkins, Korbyn Grenier, Bodie Latzel, Noah Shabram and Colton Osborne one tackle each.
