The Lady Eagles faced off against the North Central Knights from Bassett at their Holiday Tournament on Monday, Dec. 28.

The first quarter was a low scoring quarter for both teams. The Eagles marked up eight points while the Knights only got two on the board. In the second quarter both teams increased when the Eagles got an additional 14 points and the Knights added nine more points. At the half, the Eagles led 22-11.

The third quarter continued the same pattern as the Eagles marked up 18 additional points and the Knights put 11 more on their side of the board. In the fourth quarter the Knights did outscore the Eagles 17 to 12, but the damage was already done. At the buzzer the Eagles celebrated a 52-39 victory.

Leading scorers for the Eagles were Junior Lauren Young with 13 points, shooting 56 percent at the white stripe, getting six rebounds and four steals; Senior Alyssa Eichelberger also put up 13 points, making two shots from the three-point range and making 33 percent of her free throw shots, getting two rebounds and four steals; Senior Blair Gutshall with eight points, six rebounds and two steals; Junior Zelie Sorenson eight points, three rebounds and one steal; Senior Meg Schluns seven points, seven rebounds and two steals; and Senior Kiersten Welke three points, four rebounds and one steal.
