Crofton - The O’Neill Cross Country Team competed Thursday, Oct. 10, at the Mid-States Conference Meet hosted by Crofton held at Wiegand State Park. The team ran in 25 mph wind with a windchill of 18 degrees.

The girl’s team placed fourth with Faith Williamson medalling with a 10th place finish. The Rest of the team placed as follows: Taya Rainforth 16th, Alexa Shald 18th, Yoselin Cayax 19th, Ally Sedlacek 21st and Alyssa Gdanitz 24th.

“It was a great effort by the girls. That’s is what we wanted. To run better than last week,” said coach Cole Hilker.

The boy’s team earned the silver, placing second. Four medalist were produced by the Eagles: Brady Thompson third, Oscar Lopez seventh, Kullen Cartella 10th and Ty Rainforth 12th. Rounding out the varsity team were Servando Gonzalez 22nd and Blake Parks 23rd.

The rest of the team ran well. Team members were: Lio Dominguez 39th, Enrique Sanchez 47th, Kyler Dean 49th, Joe Yates 55th, Jesus Romero 58th, Tyler Diediker 59th, Lukas Dougherty 63rd, Carter Hickey 64th, Justin Beeks 68th.

“The boys improved again this week. I really think we can make some small changes and see some big improvements,” said Hilker.

The Eagles will travel to Pierce, Oct. 17th, to compete in the C-2 districts. The girl’s race will begin at 4:30 p.m. and 5:10 p.m. with the boy’s race.
