Last week the O’Neill Eagles competed at their own invitational held at the O’Neill Country Club placing fourth. The O’Neill Eagles hosted thirteen other schools. Over 150 high school athletes and 100 junior high athletes competed at the meet.
The O’Neill Girls was led by Ashley Dickau with a 17th place finish. Faith Williamson was 19th, Annie Corkle 22nd, Yoselin Cayax 28th, Nahomi Sunum 30th and Alley Sedlacek 35th. In the junior varsity division Jace Gregory placed 11th.
“ The girls ran better this week again. We just need confidence to go out a little stronger at the beginning of the race,” said Hilker.
The boys’ team was runner-up as was led again by junior Brady Thompson placing second. Also, medaling was Ty Rainforth 12th and Kullen Cartella 13th. Finishing out the varsity team were Dylan Parks 34th, Kyler Dean 38th and John Alden 47th.
The junior varsity team won their division and had four medalists. Medaling was Servando Gonzalez fifth, Gus Laible sixth, Elijah Kopecky eighth, and Tyler Diedieker 10th. Rounding out the team was Joel Costilla 12th, Mikah Raymond 13th, Carter Hickey 14th, Enrique Sanchez 15th, Peyton Yates 19th and Ashton Burival 21st.
“The boys team competed really well at the end. The whole team is improving every week. We just need to keep focused in the middle, and never quit,” said Coach Hilker.
The junior high ran with both teams placing fifth. Competing for the girls’ team were Taya Dickau 12th, Molly Corkle 19th, Elle Hoffman 20th, Madison Shoemaker 27th, Zuri Moore 34th. Lauryn Dusatko 37th, Ashly Silva 40th and Kassandra Espinoza 43rd.
Individual placing for the boys’ team were: Trevor Alder 10th, Braxen Sorensen 11th, Jairo Lazo 16th, Kyle Stearns 32nd, Luke Wilson 33rd, Caleb Laursen 38th and Nate Burival 39th.
The next time the Eagle Cross Country Team will compete will be at Boone Central. Come support the Eagles. First race begins at 4:30 p.m.
