The O’Neill Eagle Harriers competed at the Norfolk Catholic Invitational last Friday. Eighteen teams competed in the meet held by Norfolk Catholic at Skyview Lake.

The O’Neill Girls competed and placed seventh as a team. Taya Rainforth placed 19th followed by Faith Williamson 22nd, Ally Sedlacek 40th, Alexa Shald 42nd and Alyssa Gdanitz 55th.

“The girls' team improved a lot from last year. I don’t think this was our best performance though as a team, but we will grow from it,” said Coach Cole Hilker.

The boys' varsity team placed 10th. Lone medalist was Brady Thompson placing 11th. Running on the varsity team were: Ty Rainforth 27th, Oscar Lopez 58th, Kullen Cartella 59th, Blake Parks 85th and Joe Yates 88th.

“This meet gave us a lot of insight into what we need to do to get better. We were sitting okay at 4,000 meters but we need to finish better. Overall we have a better race in us,” said Hilker.

This week O’Neill will host their own invitational with 16 schools participating.

The first race starts at 3:30 p.m. at the O’Neill Golf Course.
