The St. Mary's Cardinals finished their season in Lincoln last Thursday falling to the Mullen Broncos 51-49.
The two teams were pretty evenly matched and the first quarter score showed it with both squads putting up 10 points each. Mullen outscored the Cards in the second but only by four for a 23-19 lead at the half.
The Bronocs held the lead for three quarters to start the fourth with a four point lead. The Cards hung on tough coming within three after a three pointer by Tate Thompson making it 50-47. The Cards tried to make it back but were denied the win.
Tate Thompson and Adam Everitt led the Cardinals with 11 points each. Thompson was 33 percent from above the arc shooting three of nine in three-pointers and 100 percent at the charity stripe and had three rebounds. Everitt shot 63 percent in the lane and had nine rebounds and one steal; Ethan Shoemaker and Aidan Hedstrom each had 10 points, Shoemaker shot 63 percent in the lane and had five rebounds and one steal; Hedstrom shot 40 percent on two pointers and had four rebounds and one steal; Connor Semin had seven points and three rebounds and one steal.
