STATE FINALS — Jenae Whitaker  of Chambers will compete at the state finals in Hastings. 

HASTINGS — The entry list has been set for the Nebraska State High School Finals Rodeo to be held June 13-15 at the Adams County Fairgrounds in Hastings. 

More than 250 high school rodeo athletes will compete in 12 events. The top four competitors in each event at the state level will earn a berth at the National High School Rodeo Finals in Rock Springs, WY, July 14-20, where national champions will be crowned in each event.

The 12 events include bareback riding, saddle bronc riding, tie-down roping, steer wrestling, team roping, breakaway roping, goat tying, pole bending, barrel racing, boys cutting, girls cutting and bull riding. 

Qualifying area contestants and their rank include:

Barrel Racing — 1. Jenae Whitaker of Chambers; 15. Madison Stracke of Stuart; and 22. Jaden Mathis of Atkinson.

Breakaway Roping — 19. Whitaker

Pole Bending — 10. Whitaker and 15. Madison Stracke

Team Roping — 6. Wyatt Colman of O’Neill; 19. Tyson Stracke of Stuart; 42. Mathis; 45. Cole Laible of Atkinson and 50. Andrew Koenig of Ewing

Tie-Down Roping — 9. Liable and 20. Koenig

The finals, the culmination of 28 regular season rodeos, will be held  June 13-15. The top 10 contestants in each event will advance to the short round on June 15.
