The O'Neill Eagles have concluded another season on the grid-iron with their 53-0 loss. Although their record doesn't show it the Eagles played tough against some of the most formidable opponents in their class. The Eagle's only win of the season came in a 37-7 win against Valentine.

The St. Mary's Cardinals season came full circle last Thursday losing to the Elgin Public/Pope John football team in the first round of the playoffs 30-26. The Cardinals started their season with a 28-7 win over the Wolfpack and revenge was on their minds.

The Lady Eagles met up with the host team, the Battle Creek Braves on Tuesday, Oct. 12. The Eagles struggled in the first set, but kept it close in the following two sets. However at the end of the match, they were on the losing side of the scoreboard, 16-25, 23-25 and 24-26.

Last week the O’Neill Eagles competed at Pierce in the C-3 District Cross Country Meet. Twelve Schools competed at the meet. The top 15 individuals and top three teams qualify for the state championship.

On Tuesday, Oct. 12, The Lady Cardinals traveled to Osmond to meet up with the Tigers. This match proved to be a tough one to the very last set, but when the match was over, the Cards celebrated the win. The win took all of the five sets though, 25-23, 22-25, 24-26, 25-21 and 15-5.

Last the week the O’Neill Cross Country Team competed in the Boone Central Cross Country Invitational. There were fifteen schools that competed in the meet. The boy’s race consisted of one hundred fifty runners, and the girl’s race had eighty-six competitors.

O'Neill Eighth grader Pryor Mathews represented the O’Neill Eagles at the Nebraska State Championship meet on Saturday, May 15th in Gothenburg. The event, held in near perfect conditions, featured many of the top junior high track and field athletes from across the state.

The O’Neill Girls Track team braved cold and wet weather conditions with wind chills in the 30’s to compete at the Broken Bow Invitational. The Lady Eagles ended up in fifth place out of 10 teams in a very competitive Class B meet.
