Holt County Humane Society Still Seeking Help With New Building

HOlt county Humane Society Donation - Rich McIntosh of McIntosh Jewelry presents Darcy Poese of the Holt County Humane Society a check to help furnish the new Holt County Humane Society building built in O'Neill.

The new Holt County Animal Shelter building is nearly finished on the outside, but there is still a need for furnishings for the inside.

The Holt County Animal Shelter is needing your help to make the new facility a reality.  The building itself was taken care of by the donation of a generous local person.  Rich McIntosh of McIntosh Jewelry decided he would help the cause by running a promotion and matching the funds raised.  McIntosh Jewelry ran the promotion by changing watch batteries for a $3.00 donation to the Holt County Animal Shelter and then matching it.  By the end of the promotion McIntosh Jewelry had raised $425.00 and then matched it, giving a total of $850.00 to the Holt County Animal Shelter.

McIntosh stated, "I would like to challenge other businesses in the county to help with the furnishings of the Holt County Animal Shelter."

The Holt County Animal Shelter serves not only O'Neill but also Atkinson and other communities in the county.

2002 Time Capsule Unearthed

In 2002 Mrs. Pruden's second grade class undertook a time capsule project that fulfilled its destiny on Tuesday when it was unearthed behind the O'Neill Elementary School.

The class members put some personal items in the capsule ranging from a stuffed seal, toy car and even seashells from Washington. There were letters and pictures from parents to commemorate the occasion.

On Tuesday, May 8, one of the last days of school for the class of 2012, the seniors dug up their buried capsule to see their treasures  from the past.

Upon digging up the capsule the seniors ran into a little disappointment when it was found that water had infiltrated the tub and drenched their memories.

The capsule fulfilled its memories by bringing back a brief glimpse of the past to the young men and women who are about to take the next step in life by walking down the aisle and receiving their diplomas this weekend.
