Wanda Rae Vikre Wanda Rae Vikre, age 88, of Johnstown, passed away Friday, Dec. 23, 2011, at the Stanton Health Center in Stanton. Private family inurnment will be held at a later date at the East Woodlawn Cemetery in Johnstown. Arrangements are by Brockhaus-Howser-Fillmer Funeral Home in Norfolk. Wanda Rae (Mickie) was born on June 2, 1923, at Johnstown to Ray (Smokey) and Nitz Trout. She attended Johnstown High School. On Sept. 4, 1976, she married Herb Vikre at Bassett. Wanda worked as a bartender, fashion sales and buyer and a housewife. She was a member of the United Methodist Church. Wanda is survived by her son, Terry Plamondon of Ruston, LA; daughter, Toni Ogle of Orchard; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Cleo Baxter and Agatha Groves. |
Anna Mae Martian ![]() Anna Mae Martian Anna Mae Martian, age 75, of Crofton, formerly of Norfolk, passed away on Friday, Dec. 30, 2011, at Avera Yankton Care Center in Yankton, SD. Visitation was held from 4-8 p.m. at Brockhaus-Howser-Fillmer Funeral Home in Norfolk. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2012, at Brockhaus-Howser-Fillmer Funeral Home in Norfolk with Pastor Randall Coffin officiating. Music was provided by John Peterson. Pallbearers were Tom Wiseman, Wayne Wiseman, Mark Wiseman, Marty Wiseman, Rick Wiseman and Jerry Kopejka. Honorary pallbearer was Merle Wiseman. Interment was at the Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery in Norfolk. Brockhaus-Howser-Fillmer in Norfolk was in charge of arrangements. Anna Mae (Wiseman) Martian, daughter of Otto and Marietta (VanConett) Wiseman, was born on March 6, 1936, at O'Neill. She grew up on a farm near Page and graduated from Page High School. She was married to John Spence and the couple were blessed with three children: Dave, Jackie and Larry. Anna Mae lived in various places during her life, primarily in Norfolk and later, Crofton. On Oct. 31, 1974, she married Jerome (Jerry) Martian at Stanton. She was a homemaker for most of her life, enjoying sewing, quilting, cooking, playing cards and spending time with her grandchildren, which she adored, and her cats. Anna Mae is survived by her husband, Jerry Martian of Crofton; daughter, Jackie (Terry) Avery of Auburn, IN; sons, Dave (JoAnn) Spence and Larry (Sandy) Spence all of Norfolk, Terry Martian of Grand Island, and Wes Martian of Albion; grandchildren, Derek (Kayla) Spence of Wilber, Daniel (Tiffany) Spence of Norfolk, Renee (Mike) Rieken of Archer, Amy (Wade) Osburn of Cairo, Ryan Graverholt of Altus, OK, Scott (Sarah) Graverholt of Baldwin, WI, Jesse Avery of Texas, Tara (Kevin) Frate of Missouri, Trevor Spence and Colby Spence, both of Norfolk, Emily Martian, April Martian and Chris Martian, all of Nebraska; 20 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Mavis Wiseman of O'Neill; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Otto and Marietta Wiseman; brothers, Elmer Wiseman, Leo Wiseman and Charlie Wiseman; and sister, Virginia Kopejka. |
Francis (Fritz) R. Zakrzewski ![]() Francis (Fritz) R. Zakrzewski Francis Ray "Fritz" Zakrzewski, age 64, of O'Neill, passed away early Sunday morning Dec. 25, 2011, at his home. Visitation was held from 6-9 p.m. with a rosary at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2011, at Biglin's Mortuary in O'Neill. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 29, 2011, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in O'Neill with Father Francis Nigil officiating. Music was provided by organist, Toni Schneider and the St. Patrick's Choir. Pallbearers were Garold Slaymaker, Dave Cole, Izzy Pavel, D.W. Trowbridge, Tom Hickey and Dick Appleby. Honorary pallbearer was Dewey Newton. Burial was in the O'Neill Calvary Cemetery. Biglin's Mortuary in O'Neill was in charge of arrangements. Fritz was born on Nov. 13, 1947, in Lynch to Paul and Velma (Passieux) Zakrzewski. He grew up in O'Neill and graduated from St. Mary's High School in 1965 and then attended Central Community College in Hastings. He married Sally Herley on June 8, 1966, in O'Neill. To this union two children were born. Fritz worked for KN Gas Company for eight years before owning and operating O'Neill Heating and Air Conditioning for 35 years. He belonged to St. Patrick's Catholic Church and the O'Neill County Club. Fritz is survived by his wife, Sally; one son, Rob Zakrzewski and wife Kylie of Bangor, MA; one daughter, Laurie Fitzpatrick and husband Phil of Omaha; three grandchildren: Brenden, Matthew and Cole; his mother, Velma Zakrzewski of O'Neill; four sisters: Dolores Swinarski and husband Dave of Redwing, MN, Dianne Grutsch and husband George of Missoula, MT, Marilyn Grutsch and husband Bernard of Bloomington, MN, and Kathy Bartos and husband George of O'Neill; three brothers: Larry and partner Margaret of Spokane, WA, Paul and wife Erin and Mike and wife Shelly, all of O'Neill; sister-in-law, Mary Zakrzewski of O'Neill; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Paul Zakrzewski and brother David Zakrzewski.
