V. Darrel Adamson, 92, of O'Neill died Monday, Jan. 11, 2021 at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk.

Private graveside services will be held at the O'Neill Cemetery in O'Neill. Pastor Mike Durre will officiate.

Memorials may be made to the family for future designation.

Biglin's Mortuary in O'Neill is in charge of the arrangements.

Darrel was born July 4, 1928 in Belgrade to Richard Adamson and Mildred Clauff Adamson. 

Darrel left home in 1942 at the age of 14 and graduated at the age of 16 from Fullerton High School. 

He then moved to Arizona and worked for the Santa Fe Railroad for a year before returning to Nebraska. 

Over the years, he worked at a carnival, owned a theater and gas station in Fullerton, sold Kaiser cars, owned a freight business and gas station in O’Neill and sold livestock feed and recreation vehicles.

Darrel served in the U.S. Army one year and the U.S. Navy Air Corps Reserve for five years.

Darrel is survived by his wife of 50 years,Vivian Adamson of O’Neill; four children Debbie Boltz and Kent (Kathy) Adamson, all of Lincoln, Janet Swim of Kansas City, MO, and Todd Adamson of Lincoln; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his former wife of 16 years Beverly Matthews Adamson (mother of Debbie, Kent, Janet and Todd), one brother Eugene Adamson and two grandsons Jacob Adamson and Brockford Boltz.
