Sammie was born May 17, 1951 to Lester and Sylvia Rose (Florea) Miles in Valentine. She moved with her family to the Chambers area where she attended grade school. Sammie graduated from Nebraska Christian High School in Central City in 1969.

While in high school, she met Rick Rowse during a watermelon escapade at Lamberts. They were married on July 3, 1972. When the couple headed to Wyoming on their honeymoon, they barely made it to Ainsworth before a storm hit. That night there were 12 tornados sighted! Despite the rocky start, the couple settled into married life and made their home in Chambers. They moved to Germany for two and a half years while Rick was in the U.S. Army.

It was in Germany that their first son Justin was born. They returned to the Chambers area and added to their family with second son Aaron.  The family eventually moved into the family farm near Amelia where they spent the next 40 plus years.

Sammie enjoyed the outdoors; her flowers, birds and gardening. She liked cooking and was an avid photographer. Her best times were spent with her family, especially grandchildren.

She was a member of a gardening club, Nebraska Through the Lens and Chambers American Legion Post 320 Auxiliary.

Sammie is survived by her husband Rick Rowse of Amelia; two sons Justin (Amy) Rowse of O’Neill and  Aaron (Sammy) Rowse of Omaha; three grandchildren Allyson, Caleb and Dani Rowse of O’Neill; her mother Rose Miles of O’Neill; three sisters Alberta Mikkelsen of Chambers, Cindy (Calvin) Fluckey of Plainview and Suzie (Greg) Kissell of Sargent; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father Lester Miles; twin brothers Bart and Bernard Miles; one brother- in- law Eddie Grenier; and one nephew Austin Grenier.
