Chambers — Richard Lehmann, 96, of Chambers died Saturday, May 25, 2019 at Arbor Care Center in O'Neill.

Visitation was held Friday, May 31, 2019 at Biglin's Mortuary in O'Neill.

Funeral services were held Saturday, June 1, 2019 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Chambers. Rev. John Ryding officiated. Music was provided by Becky Larson.

Pallbearers were Brandon Wright, Lane Wright, Cooper Wright, Brian Wright, Baylee Wright and Cory Tebay.

Burial was in the Chambers Cemetery in Chambers with military rites provided by Chambers American Legion Post 320.

Memorials may be made to the family for future designation.

Richard was born on May 30, 1922 to William and Bertha (Milke) Lehmann in Chambers. He graduated from Chambers Public High School in 1940. He entered the U.S. Army and served for over a year in the Philippines.

After being honorably discharged on Dec. 17, 1946, he returned to the family ranch south of Chambers.  

Richard married JoEllyn Hoerle on April 7, 1947 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Chambers. The couple made their home on Dick’s family farm. 

He loved to work on his ranch. He enjoyed the changes that each new season brought to the ranch, from calving, to fencing, to haying and finally harvest. Dick retired in 2000.

Dick was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Chambers.  

He enjoyed fishing, crossword puzzles and playing cards with the neighbors. Dick and JoEllyn always enjoyed their dogs Jack and Poochie. 

Richard is survived by many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife JoEllyn Lehmann in 2018; and three sisters Esther Mosel, Mildred Wright and Bernice Hayman.
