Grand Island — Marvin Ray Rickard, 64, of Grand Island, formerly of Chambers, died Friday, Nov. 19, 2021 at Bryan East Hospital in Lincoln after a brief illness.

A private family burial will be held at a later date.

Memorials may be made to the family for future designation.

Marvin, along with his twin brother, Martin, was born Oct. 30, 1957, at the Atkinson Memorial Hospital. He grew up in Chambers, graduating from Chambers High School in 1976. 

He went to barber school and lived and practiced barbering in Aurora until forced to quit due to rheumatoid arthritis. 

He then moved to Grand Island and went to work as a hotel manager. He worked at various hotels in the Grand Island area, most recently at Comfort Inn and Suites.

Marvin is survived by seven siblings Verlin (Pat) of Dorchester, Gary of O’Neill, Janet (Ed) Fleek of Chambers, Warren (Peg) of Atkinson, Glenda (Dale) Mudloff of O’Neill, Vicki (Bill) Tomjack of Chambers and Darla (Rick) Cox of Lincoln and  one sister-in-law Shelly of Lake Havasu City, AZ.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Allen who died in infancy, his twin brother Marty and one niece Kyra Rickard.
