Burial was in the O'Neill Cemetery in O'Neill.

Memorials may be made to the family for future designation.

Marie was born on March 4, 1929 to Leo and Bridget (Boyle) Schneider in O’Neill. She graduated from St. Mary’s Academy in 1946 and obtained her teaching certificate from Wayne Normal School. The following fall she started her career as a country school teacher.

She married Andy Ramold on Dec. 29, 1953 and together they celebrated 59 years of marriage before Andy passed away in October 2013.

Marie stopped teaching when she got married, but continued to be involved in the community through church, school and social activities.

These include St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, St. Mary’s Catholic Schools, Legion of Mary, Altar Society, Third Order of Saint Francis, Boyd/Holt Right to Life, Red Cross Bloodmobile and the Archdiocesan Marriage Preparation Team. Marie also helped found Kraft Korner, a quilting organization benefitting St. Mary’s Catholic Schools.

Many in the community remember her sunny disposition from the years she passed out food samples at local stores.

Marie and Andy were known for generously opening their home to rural students who were town-bound due to weather or waiting for rides home, exchange students and young women with unplanned pregnancies. Their house was a frequent gathering place for relatives and neighbors after school, games and Sunday Mass.

They raised a bountiful garden in their back yard, then canned or shared their crops. Several neighborhood kids also remember ride-alongs where they learned to pick wild asparagus, choke cherries, grapes and more. Then the fruit was carefully divided between Marie’s jellies and Andy’s wine.

Marie always started her day at daily Mass, before hurrying home to get the family out the door to work or school. Daily prayers included the rosary and Legion of Mary meditations. In her last months she covered multiple intentions by just praying for her "family, friends and foes" before going to sleep at night.

Her faith and sense of humor grounded her through the celebrations and sorrows of life … and all the moments in between. These lessons and memories now sustain her family and friends as they say goodbye and celebrate the beautiful life she lived.

Marie is survived by four children Randy Ramold of Wagner, SD, Jeanie (Mike) Miller of Spencer, Kathy (Mike) Scott of Winner, SD, and Ron Ramold of Omaha; one son-in-law Steve Sintek of North Loup; seven grandchildren Mikeaela (Luke) Koenig, Kristin (Tom) Catterson, Erik Scott, Shelby Scott, Gage Sintek, Margaret Sintek and Clark Sintek; three great-grandchildren Ava Catterson, Andy Catterson and Xander Koenig; two sisters Ramona Babl of O’Neill and Betty Bowers of Rapid City, SD; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Andy; one daughter Joan Sintek; and five brothers Jim Schneider, Don Schneider, George Schneider, Tom Schneider and Gene Schneider.
