A celebration of life service will be held at a later date.
Memorials may be made to the family for future designation.
Brockhaus Funeral Home in Spencer is in charge of the arrangements.
Gay was born to Guy Hull and Lila (Pinkerman) Hull on March 14, 1931 in Lynch at the Lynch Hospital. He grew up on the family farm near Red Bird. Gay went to elementary school at the little school up the creek. He told the story of skating to school in the wintertime. Gay graduated from Lynch High School in 1949.
In 1950, he met his wife Alberta “Bertie” Sedivy at a dance. They were married Sept. 25, 1950, in Spencer.
Gay farmed on the family farm until moving his family to Belden and from there to Denver, CO in 1956. Gay moved back to the family farm with his family in 1958 after the untimely death of his brother Leroy. He farmed there until 1963 when the family moved to Hillsboro, OR.
He worked numerous jobs: a greenskeeper at a golf course, filling station attendant and box factory technician at Western Kraft in Beaverton, OR. He retired from Western Kraft after receiving his 30-year pin in 1993.
Gay and Bertie moved back to Lynch to be near family and enjoy their grandchildren.
In 2016, he was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and because of declining heath became a resident of Alpine Village in Verdigre in January 2018, where he resided until his death.
Gay was a person willing to help anyone, anytime with anything that was needed. He loved to dance, and he and Bertie cut many a rug during their 70 years together.
He also loved to fish, especially for bass. Gay loved dogs, could grow absolutely anything, loved playing cards, spending time with his grandkids and great-grandkids, eating popcorn and made the best ice cream in the world. Homemade of course!
All those who loved him dearly will miss his smile and gentle kindness!
Gay leaves behind his wife of 70 years Bertie; one daughter Gaylene Peters of Vancouver, WA; one son Greg Hull of Lynch; six grandchildren Alyssa (Greg) Peters of Vancouver, WA, Jay (Andrya) Sauers of Camas, WA, Kyle (Lindsay) Peters of Vancouver,WA, Lex Hull (Heather Doll) of Omaha, Clifton Hull of Lincoln, Jaxsen Hull of Lynch and Rainey (Shane) Korte of Lincoln; four great-grandchildren Trinity, Bianca, Colton and Cheyanne all of Vancouver, WA; two brothers-in-law Wesley Sedivy of Spencer, and Harlan (Linda) Sedivy of Omaha and their children Jeff, Lynette and Brenda; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Guy and Lila, one brother Leroy, one sister Dorothy Reynolds, one sister-in-law Sybil Sedivy and one son-in-law Gordon Peters.
