Lincoln — Bonita Cuddy, 83, of Lincoln passed away on Thursday, Nov. 21, 2019.
Visitation was held Sunday Nov. 24 at the Butherus, Maser & Love Funeral Home with a rosary.
A mass of Christian burial was held Monday, Nov. 25, 2019, at the St. John Catholic Church in Lincoln. Burial was at Calvary Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family for future designation.
Bonita was born in 1936, to Mark and Marguerite (Jefferies) Muff on a farm south of Clearwater. She was the second of three daughters.
She was baptized at St. John Catholic Church in Clearwater and made her first communion there also.
Bonita attended rural School District 60 through the eighth grade. She then started boarding at St. Mary’s Catholic High School in O’Neill in the ninth grade. She became a day student there when her parents moved to O’Neill in December 1949. She graduated from St. Mary’s with the Class of 1953. Bonita taught in rural schools in Holt County for six years.
She and Edward Cuddy were married in May of 1956, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in O’Neill. They became parents of four children Steve, Marde, Carmen and Mark. The family moved to Lincoln in 1961.
She began working for Lincoln Public Schools in 1972 as the accounting secretary at Northeast High School.
Bonita was a member of St. John Catholic Church in Lincoln, American Legion Auxiliary, Women of the Moose, Eagles 4111, Lincoln Public Schools Association of Office Personnel, Nebraska Education of Office Personnel and the National Association of Educational Personnel.
She enjoyed her family, especially the grandchildren, playing golf, reading, walking, dancing, the outdoors, her friends, laughter and sunshine. She was very proud of her children's, their spouses’ and grandchildren’s accomplishments.
Bonita is survived by four children Steve (Arlene) Cuddy of Manteca, CA, Marde (Dan) Strizek, Carmen (Steve) Javorsky and Mark (Mary) Cuddy, all of Lincoln; 10 grandchildren Andrea Hongsermeier, Briana Speckmann, Lindsay Strizek, Laura Miller, Matt Javorsky, Charlie, Claire, Frank and Peter Cuddy and Tom Griffin; 10 great-grandchildren; special friend and companion Don Beck; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents Mark and Marguerite Muff, one granddaughter Stefanie Javorsky, one great-grandson Sam Miller and two sisters Barbara Swercheck and Carolyn Agosta.
