Lynch — Beverly Sue Galloway, 70, of Lynch died Monday, Aug. 5, 2019 at CHI Immanual Hospital in Omaha.
Visitation was held Friday, Aug. 9, 2019 at Biglin's Mortuary in O'Neill.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Aug. 10, 2019 at the mortuary.
Burial was in the Prairie Lawn Cemetery in Cody.
Memorials may be made to the family for future designation.
Beverly was born on Oct. 24, 1948 to Leonard C. and Myrtle Emma (Weihe) Witherwax at the Sandhills General Hospital in Valentine. She grew up on the family ranch north and west of Cody. Bev attended Cody Public Grade School and graduated from Cody High School in 1967 as valedictorian of her class.
She enjoyed school and learning. She loved life growing up on the ranch in the Sandhills of Cherry County.
On Aug. 25, 1967, Bev married Neal Galloway at Bridal Cave in Camdenton, MO. Neal and Bev were blessed with four children Morgan, Melissa, Neah and Emma’lee. They began their married life in Chadron, then moved to Columbia, MO, and back to Lincoln pursuing Neal’s college education. They moved to North Platte in 1971 and lived at the University of Nebraska West Central Research Station. In 1973, they moved to Ulysses, KS.
She pursued her love of homemaking, cooking, gardening and growing flowers. She was an art instructor during their years at Master Land Co. in Ulysses, KS.
In 1975, Bev heard the gospel and yielded her heart to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Her faith and family were the most important things in her life.
Neal and Bev moved their family to Lakin, KS in 1982 where Neal operated a tire shop with their dear friends Olan and Sarah Harlan. In October 1984, they moved to Red Bird to the homeplace of the Witherwax family. In 1986, the family moved to Norfolk when Neal began his career with Farm Services of America (FSA). They were able to move back to the homeplace at Red Bird when Neal took a position with FSA in O’Neill.
She worked at her part of remodeling the old original farm house at Red Bird. She home educated her two youngest daughters through the eighth grade. She continued to garden and expand her interest in it by receiving a Certified Master Gardener Award. She was the care-giver for her mother until her death in 2004.
In 2017, Neal and Bev celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house with family and friends.Bev enjoyed travel and history so was pleased to enjoy a trip to the British Isles with their dear friends Fred and Joan Sipe.
Beverly is survived by her husband of 51 years Neal Galloway of Lynch; four children Morgan (Martha) Galloway of Thermopolis, WY, Melissa (Dustin) Sipe of Kaycee, WY, Neah Galloway of San Antonio, Texas and Emma’lee (Justin) Frank of Laurel, MT; five grandchildren Mataya Sipe, Xavier Butts, Aletheia Butts, Killian Frank and Evangeline Frank; one brother Delbert (Judy) Witherwax of Council Bluffs, Iowa; one sister Vivian Whirlwind of Virginia; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister Vera Shook and one brother Gary Witherwax.
