Amelia — Arnold "Arnie" Eugine Hoerle, 77, of Amelia died Tuesday July 7, 2020 at his home.
Military graveside services were held Thursday, July 9, 2020. at Cottonwood Cemetery in Burwell. Pastor Jon Franson officiated.
Memorials may be made to the family for future designation.
Hitchcock Funeral Home in Burwell was in charge of the arrangements.
Arnie was born on July 22, 1942 to Leo and Lola (Chipps) Hoerle in Burwell. As a child he attended District 22 country school and graduated from Wheeler County High School in 1960.
After high school he joined the U.S. Army and was stationed in Ft. Jackson, SC. He was honorably discharged and completed his remaining service through the U.S. Army National Guard of Nebraska.
After his service he returned to the area and worked various jobs including ranch work.
On Dec. 27, 1962 Arnie married Marietta Irene Perrott. To this union four children were born Brenda A., Angela M., Susan D. and Lee E. Arnie and Irene moved to a ranch near Amelia in 1966 where they raised their children and lived the remainder of their lives.
He loved ranching and was proud of what he had created over the many years of hard work.
Arnie enjoyed stock car racing and raced in the Hoerle Racing Team with his cousins Ron and Jim Hoerle. He would work all day on the ranch and still would go back out to the shop to work on his stock car after supper for the races that week. He was very talented with metal fabrication and building trailers and grill guards. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with family and friends.
He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Chambers.
Arnie is survived by his older brother Dave Hoerle of Bartlett; four children Brenda Baker of Cheyenne, WY, Angie (Greg) Anderson of Juniata, Susie (Chad) Hoerle of Westminster, CO and Lee (Stephanie) Hoerle of Burwell; three grandchildren Madison and Dylan Anderson of Juniata and Grace Baker of Cheyenne; one brother-in-law Vernon (Nancy) Perrott of Burwell; and nieces and nephews along with many more extended family, friends and neighbors who loved him and will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his father Leo, mother Lola, wife Irene, father-in-law Joe Perrott, mother-in-law Gladys Perrott, one sister-in-law Martha Hoerle and one son-in-law John Baker.
