On Wednesday, Sept. 25 the Boyd-Holt 911 Center received information regarding a single vehicle accident near the Spencer Dam bridge.
At approximately 9:30 p.m. the Boyd County Sheriff’s Office arrived on scene along with the Holt County Sheriff’s Department, O’Neill Police Department and Nebraska State Patrol and found no passengers in the vehicle. The vehicle at the accident scene was reported stolen out of Spalding with connections to a juvenile listed as a missing person. At approximately 10 p.m. officers received word another vehicle was stolen in Spencer. Also reports of a third vehicle reported stolen out of O’Neill earlier in the evening, but the vehicle was disabled by Onstar in Spencer.
A Boyd County deputy searched the location given by OnStar recovering vehicles from Spencer and O’Neill. A short time later, another attempt to steal a vehicle was reported to law enforcement.
At approximately 11:55 p.m. two juveniles were taken into custody on several charges out of Boyd and Holt counties and pending charges in other jurisdictions.
This matter is still under investigation. The Boyd County Sheriff’s office, along with members of the Holt County Sheriff’s Office, Nebraska State Patrol, and O’Neill Police Department are still investigating.
