A wreck on Wednesday, Aug. 21 at approximately 12:30 p.m. sent two people to the hospital and one of the occupants had to be extricated from their vehicle.
Gary A. Kallhoff of Bloomfield was westbound on Hwy. 108 and crossed the center line and struck an oncoming truck. Kallhoff was driving a 2006 GMC Canyon owned by Patricia Kallhoff and struck a 1970 Kenworth truck driven by Juan Angel Gonzalez-Valero.
Gonzalez-Valero tried to avoid the collision by veering right and slowing down. The accident was nearly a head-on and both vehicles were considered a total loss.
Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash and the investigation is ongoing. Kallhoff was extricated from his vehicle by the O'Neill Fire Department and both drivers were taken to Avera St. Anthony's Hospital.
Mutual aid was requested from the Page Fire Department and the Holt County Sheriff's Office investigated the accident.
