VALENTINE — Nebraska State Highway Commission is hosting a meeting at 8:30 a.m. Friday, June 28 at Niobrara Lodge, 803 E. Hwy. 20 in Valentine.

The meeting will include a presentation by the Nebraska Department of Transportation (NDOT) about potential projects in the District 8 area which includes Blaine, Boyd, Brown, Cherry, Garfield, Holt, Keya Paha, Loup, Rock and Wheeler counties.

Projects listed under the fiscal year 2019 construction program and the number they are listed on the above map include:

• 1. Highway 11 — 6.1 miles of milling, resurfacing and bridge work south of Atkinson ($2,782)

• 2. Highway 12 — Grading and replacing the Bristow box culvert ($615)

• 3. Highway 12 — 8.6 miles of milling, resurfacing and bridge work between Lynch and Monowi ($3,905)

• 5. Highway 20 — 34.9 miles of resurfacing between Long Pine and Atkinson ($2,307)

• 6. Highway 20 — Updating the lighting near the Junction of Highway 20 and Highway 275 at the weigh station ($91)

• 10. Highway 137 — 13.6 miles of milling, resurfacing and bridge repairs north of Newport ($5,228)

Projects listed under the five-year program from fiscal year 2020-24 include:

• Highway 11 — 7.3 miles of resurfacing and bridge repairs starting in Butte and moving north ($2,660)

• Highway 12 — 33.4 miles of miscrosurfacing through Boyd, Cherry and Keya Paha counties ($2,290)

• Highway 20 — 1.8 miles of joint repair and grinding in O'Neill ($390)

• Highway 20 — 50.6 miles of miscrosurfacing in the O'Neill area ($3,560)

• Highway 20 — 8.1 miles of resurfacing near the Holt and Antelope counties line ($3,860)

• Highway 281 — graveling, concreting and bridge work near the east junction of Highway 20 south in O'Neill ($3,400)

• Highway 281 — 7.5 miles of resurfacing north and south of Eagle Creek ($3,360)

• Highway 281 — 5.1 miles of resurfacing and bridge repairs near north and south of the Boyd and Holt counties line ($2,530)

The public is encouraged to attend and share any suggestions or concerns regarding future NDOT highway improvement projects.
