The 2021 St. Patrick's Day Celebration is in the books. The celebration started last Wednesday with the addition of Tom Earley and Dick Laursen to the O'Neill Irish Walk of Fame. The cold weather kept the ceremony inside at Chesterfield's.

Friday turned nice as temperatures hit 50 with a mild breeze but the crowds came out to watch the greening of the pond and the annual painting of the World's Largest Shamrock.

Saturday was sunny but brisk as the Omaha Pipe & Drum Corp performed on the shamrock followed by the Irish Dancers Alumni.

The 54th St. Patrick's Day Parade had 52 entries making a come back from the two previous events that were hampered by Covid last year and the floods the year before.

Rachel Kohelman was given the honor of being this years parade grand marshall; Curt Closson and Karen Hazelhorst were crowned the king and queen of this year's event.

The afternoon finished off with the kids carnival and petting zoo at the Christ Connection Center in the former O'Neill High School 1938 building.
