ATKINSON — The Central Nebraska Economic Development District (CNEDD) is planning the 2019 "Preparing Your Community for Growth and Disaster Recovery" conference.

This year's conference will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9 at Atkinson Community Center, 206 W. Hwy. 20 in Atkinson.

The cost to attend the conference, including a lunch, is $25. Anyone interested can sign up at cnedd.org/events/ by Oct. 1.

Several sessions will occur including "Creating a Curbside Recycling Program - And Applying for Recycling Grant Funds," Kim Burge, Nebraska recycling council; "Disaster Recovery Update - What Was the Damage - How to Prepare for the Future," Deb Hilker, Holt County emergency manager, Doug Fox, Region 24 emergency manager, and Alma Beland, Region 26 emergency manager; "E-Connectivity," Karl Elmshaeuser, Nebraska USDA director; "Broadband Expansion - Opportunities and Coverage in Our Region," Anne Byers, Nebraska information technology commission, Collin Robbins, Nebraska Public Service Commission, and Charlotte Narjes; and "Broadband Improvement & Expansion - How You and Your Community Play a Role," continued with group exercises.
