A 38-year old Page man was sentenced to jail time for assault related charges during Holt County District Court on Sept. 9.

Billy J. Lyons was charged with third-degree assault, a Class 2 misdemeanor.

Holt County District Court Judge Mark Kozisek sentenced the defendant to 30 days in Holt County Jail with credit for one day served.

According to the state’s good time law, the defendant will serve at least 23 days of his sentence.

Lyons also was fined $500 and was ordered to pay $147 in court costs.

According to court documents, the defendant was arrested Nov. 14, 2018 after a call was received around 8 p.m. from the Holt/Boyd 911 dispatch that an assault took place in the 100 block of West Market Street in Page.

Holt County Sheriff’s Officer Sgt. Mark Liewer made contact with the defendant in the 400 block of West Market Street.

Allegedly a verbal disagreement occurred with a male victim that later turned into a physical altercation. According to court documents Lyons struck the victim with a collapsible baton.

The defendant was then arrested and transported to Holt County Jail.
