2019 Holt County Fair

CHAMBERS — The 2019 Holt County Fair is set for Aug. 6-10 at the fairgrounds in Chambers.

This year River City Carnival will be at the fairgrounds from Wednesday-Saturday with several children and adult rides.

Some people may feel they aren't in Holt County anymore when they arrive because this year, due to numerous and generous area sponsors, all carnival rides will be free.

"We really want everyone to feel like 'there's no place like home' when they come to the fair. We want kids to make childhood memories of their home," said Heather Tomjack, Holt County Fair Board member. "Adults can come out and have fun too. Grandparents can ride for free with their grandchildren. All they have to do is stand in line at each ride."

Though you may not see a "horse of a different color," carnival food and games also will be available. Costs may vary.

Kicking off the many events at the fair and new this year is a Lip Sync Battle at 6:30 p.m. in front of the grand stand.

"This is open to all ages and genres and even cowardly lions. It is a great time to showcase talent and enjoy time with the Holt County community," Tomjack said.

A variety of acts are encouraged  such as singing, playing a musical instrument, dancing, etc., all while lip syncing to your favorite song.

"Pretend to be a rock star, dress-up and play the part. The best part is you don't have to sing, you just have to know the song," she said.

Acts may be solo or group performances. All rules and regulations as well as a sign-up sheet can be found online at www.holtcountyfair.net or call 402-841-9380.

The event is limited to 20 participants. Spectators can enjoy the talent contest for free.
