Chair John Hammerlun called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.
Present: Dan Drueke, Tom Welsh, Kevin DeKay, Dan Pribil, Chair John Hammerlun, Scott Keyes Supervisor and Bill Babutzke Weed Superintendent.
Guest: Rex Stolcpart owner of Stolcpart Spraying.
Minutes Approved: Dan Pribil made a motion to approve the minutes and Kevin DeKay seconded. All approved.
Claims Approved: Dan Drueke made a motion to approve the claims and Tom Welsh seconded. All approved.
Old Business: N/A
New Business: Rex Stolcpart was introduced to the board. Rex has been in business for six years. His experience comes from working with his uncle Rod Stolcpart retired Weed Superintendent for Rock County. Most of Rex’s work has been in Keya Paha County. Rex has a 4 wheeler and a side by side for spraying equipment. He does have a partner to help with bigger areas. Rex does GPS all his work for record keeping.
The Weed Department had a request from the auditors. The hay inspection tag fee of $0.10 per tag needed a motion. John Hammerlun made a motion to set a fee of $0.10 per hay tag Tom Welsh seconded all approved.
With a grant through Sandhills Weed Management Area, Dan Pribil took a flight over Dry Creek and part of Elkhorn River. Dan reports no Loosestrife, Phragmites or Hemlock spotted.
On Tuesday August 17, 2021, the Region 2 meeting will be held here in O’Neill at 10:00 AM. The committee will tour at John Hammerlun looking at Canada Thistle rust.
Bill Babutzke attended training at Columbus on August 7th, 2021.
Information on the following list of twelve noxious weeds found in Nebraska can be located at the neweed.org website with sufficient information on each noxious weed.
Canada Thistle, Musk Thistle, Plumeless Thistle, Purple Loosestrife, Spotted Knapweed, Diffuse Knapweed, Saltcedar, Phragmites, Giant Knotweed, Japanese Knotweed, Sericea Lespedeza, Leafy Spurge.
Next Meeting will be Monday September 13th at 7:00 pm
Dan Pribil made a motion to adjourn the meeting and Dan Drueke seconded. All approved.
