CHAMBERS — Every year the Holt County Fair Board looks back at the service of past and present persons who have and are contributing to the continued growth of the Fair.

The Holt County Ag Society in 2019 decided to give the Friend of the Fair award to two people — Scott Moore and Pete Hoffman — who have donated much time and energy to the benefit of the Holt County Fair and to the 4-H and FFA programs in Holt County.

Moore was the superintendent of the shooting sports at the Holt County Fair for more than 20 years. He spent countless hours building targets, mowing the ranges and setting up for events and practices. Moore was patient with the training practices, sharing his knowledge of the sport while emphasizing the importance of good habits of gun safety.  He has been a true friend of the fair and to all the 4-H and FFA participants in shooting sports.

Hoffman was a fair board member for 40 years, also holding the official roles of treasurer and president for many of those. After retiring, Hoffman continues to spend many hours at the fairgrounds in preparation of the fair and working the back chutes during the rodeos.  He is a true friend of the fair.
