A 37-year-old woman formerly of O’Neill was sentenced to jail for two counts of attempting to commit a Class 3A or 4A felony during Holt County Court on July 30.
Nichole Massallo, a prisoner at the Nebraska Corrections Center for Women, was sentenced to 60 days in jail for both counts. Her 18-month probation was revoked in the case and she was ordered to pay $919.26 in restitution.
According to court documents, the defendant cashed two fraudulent checks in June 2019 at Golden Hotel and Torpin’s Rodeo Market, both in O’Neill.
Nicole Massallo, aka Nichole Ann Vanness, aka Nichole Gonzalez was sentenced to prison on Dec. 10, 2018, in Holt County District Court for her involvement in a robbery in August 2018.
She was charged with terroristic threats, a Class 3A felony; robbery, a Class 2 felony; false imprisonment, a Class 3A felony; and theft by unlawful taking, a Class 4 felony.
The defendant was sentenced to two to three years in prison for the terroristic threats charges.
Massallo was sentenced to 10-15 years in prison for robbery; two to three years for false imprisonment; and one to two years for unlawful taking.
According to the state’s good time law, Massallo will serve five to seven and a half years in prison. She was given credit for nine days served in Holt County Jail.
The robbery sentencings imposed are to be served concurrently with the defendant’s current charges filed through Madison County District Court.
Massallo is currently incarcerated for several felony charges in Madison and Lancaster counties including unauthorized use of a financial device, theft by deception, second-degree forgery, issuing a bad check over $1,500, possession of methamphetamine and other charges.
